Drawing Tank

Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 6, 2026. Applies to the Drawing Tank app for iPhone and iPad and to the drawingtank.com website, both operated by MAABLAB, LLC.

Summary

Drawing Tank does not collect personal data. The app has no accounts, no sign-in, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking. Drawings and names shared in a world travel only between devices on the same local network and are never sent to MAABLAB, LLC or to any cloud service. The only information we ever receive is what you choose to send us by email.

Local drawing and shared worlds

Starting a world opens a private scene and sketchpad on your device. If you choose to let others join, the app runs a small server on the host device and advertises a four-digit code on the local network. Guests scan its QR code or enter the code in the app; devices without the app can use a drawing page served by the host device on the same Wi-Fi. Sharing remains active until that world closes, even if the QR code is hidden.

Drawings and optional first names or nicknames travel only between participating devices on the local network. They are held in session memory and cleared when the world closes or the app quits. MAABLAB, LLC does not receive them. Local preferences and purchased scene entitlements are stored on your device; session drawings and names are not uploaded anywhere.

The host can remove creatures, clear the world or pause arrivals at any time. Use a network you trust: the world is reachable by devices on that network while sharing is enabled. Local-network permission is requested only when sharing or joining, not for private drawing. Declining it in Settings prevents network participation but leaves private drawing fully available.

Camera and Photos

Joining a world can use the camera to scan a QR code. Camera frames are processed on the device and are never recorded or uploaded. Typing the code remains available if camera permission is declined.

The app asks for permission to add to Photos only when you save an export. It does not request access to read your existing photos. Saved images or recordings are then governed by your photo-library settings, including iCloud Photos if you have enabled it.

Website and QR handoff

The drawingtank.com website provides app information, support pages and a join handoff for QR codes. The local address and code in a QR link are carried after the # in its URL; browsers do not transmit that fragment to the website server. Drawings and names are never included in that request. After the handoff, drawing traffic goes directly to the host device on the local network. Native code entry and the direct local address remain available without the website.

Our website hosting provider receives ordinary request information such as IP addresses and browser headers, and applies its own security measures, which may include a protective cookie. Our site code adds no advertising, analytics, fingerprinting or browser storage.

Purchases and downloads

Optional scene packs are sold, restored and delivered through Apple's App Store and in-app purchase services. The app verifies entitlements on the device. We never receive your name, payment-card details or billing information. Purchase screens sit behind a parental gate. Apple handles these services under its own privacy policy.

Support and diagnostics

If a parent or grown-up emails [email protected] or [email protected], MAABLAB, LLC and our email provider receive the sender's address and message so that we can respond. We use that information only to answer you and keep it only as long as needed to do so. Please do not include children's drawings or unnecessary personal details.

Apple may make crash and usage diagnostics available to us according to the sharing settings on your device. The app itself includes no third-party crash-reporting or analytics service.

Children's privacy

Drawing Tank is designed for children and families. We do not collect, store or share personal information from children or from anyone else. The app has no accounts, no advertising and no tracking, and it does not ask children for names, contact details or any other personal information beyond an optional nickname that stays on the local network and is cleared when a world closes. We do not knowingly receive personal information from a child by any other route. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has sent us personal information, contact [email protected] and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we ever change how the app or website handles information, we will update this page and its effective date before the change takes effect. Material changes will also be reflected in the App Store privacy details for the app.
